The Sonnet at Tennyson Fosters Intergenerational Connections Through Community Engagement

The Sonnet at Tennyson, a senior living community in Madison, has been facilitating interactions between its residents and various community groups, with a focus on intergenerational engagement. These interactions aim to promote social connectivity and address potential feelings of isolation among residents.

Recent activities have included visits from the Madison Police Department on Valentine’s Day, where officers distributed carnations, cards, and candy to residents. The event provided an opportunity for residents to interact with local law enforcement in a social setting. Valentine's Day cards were also provided by Madison Senior Helpers.

Additionally, the Trinity Irish Dancers, a youth dance troupe, performed for residents. The performance offered residents an opportunity to experience cultural entertainment and engage with younger members of the community.

A St. Patrick’s Day celebration featured musical entertainment by Daniel Flaherty, with residents participating in singing and playing instruments. This event highlighted the community's interest in musical engagement and provided a platform for residents to share their musical talents.

"We believe that fostering community connections is essential for the well-being of our residents," says Michele Little, Executive Director of The Sonnet at Tennyson.

"These events not only bring joy and laughter but also create meaningful bonds that combat loneliness and promote a sense of belonging. Seeing the smiles on our residents' faces when interacting with children, police officers, and musicians is truly priceless.”

Run by senior living experts, Koru Health, the Sonnet at Tennyson is committed to building a community where residents feel valued, connected, and engaged. By actively seeking out opportunities for social interaction, the community is creating a vibrant and supportive environment where residents of all ages can thrive.
